If you believe we all came from a common ancestor than how can one "clan" be less than another?

Hell even if you don't believe we all came from a common ancestor - how can you believe that? Oh that's right - racists are dumbasses.

And, to be fair - by "you" I do not mean any of you. I give you all the benefit of the doubt and assume you aren't ignorant fucks. Mostly because you all seem smart enough to be able to wake up and breath and I often wonder how the idiots of the world even manage that. Surely not only the fit survive.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3547195737073832993.post-81834753430894484412009-02-13T16:10:00.000-06:002009-02-13T16:10:00.000-06:00The Lion:Today, I'm of the believe that it's a str...The Lion:

Today, I'm of the believe that it's a stretch to say evolution supports slavery. But at one time, I believed differently because I heard claims from Christian apologists who wanted to refute evolution.

"Survival of the fittest" and "might makes right" attitudes are sometimes blamed on Darwinism. And people start to think that survival of the fittest or might-makes-right mentalities lead to people cruelty and oppression.

But in contrast, evolution is counter to any justification of such oppressions because the theory proposes (I know, I know) we share a common ancestor.

While not to the extent of Darwinism, Genesis says we all have a common ancestor in Adam and Eve. So, that notion alone should have countered slavery. Yet, in the U.S., many people who professed Christianity used the Bible to justify owning slaves.

Yes, and I must be fair. Abolitionists used the Bible to support fighting slavery, too.

And it seems, some might have also used evolution to support both sides of the argument, too.

But as for Darwin specifically, he had no intent to justify slavery-- according to sources I've read. Perhaps he even hoped evolution would help people pay more attention to our similarities rather than our differences as a human family.Urukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05913837011380611461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3547195737073832993.post-88063815530942807022009-02-13T13:29:00.000-06:002009-02-13T13:29:00.000-06:00...supported slavery? Kind of a stretch isn't it?N......supported slavery? Kind of a stretch isn't it?

Now, like I said before. I believe in the theory of evolution - kind of. I believe that humans, like all animals, change and adapt over time. I do not (do not do not do not) believe humans were, at one point, another animal (like an ape) or that we have a common ancestor with another animal (like an ape) - unless of course you count God, which I doubt you do :-DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3547195737073832993.post-64088917880638927162009-02-12T12:15:00.000-06:002009-02-12T12:15:00.000-06:00I never rejected evolution, but I had never really...I never rejected evolution, but I had never really thought much about it either. I have Scriptulicious to thank for suggesting various books and authors. A little research opens one's eyes to how robust and explanatory evolution is. It's frustrating to find how many people are resistant, not just to evolution, but to even researching the issue.Fizlowskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11416466217590061369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3547195737073832993.post-60049121114770667662009-02-12T08:43:00.000-06:002009-02-12T08:43:00.000-06:00Hello Uruk,It is so often stated by creationists t...Hello Uruk,

It is so often stated by creationists that evolution is unsupported that people believe that just because it's what they hear. And, it becomes the knee-jerk reaction as a, "Nothing in science supports evolution," or "Science disproves evolution." The support for evolution, in my estimation, makes creationist leaders ignorant at best and masters of deception at worst.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3547195737073832993.post-16091018272751353282009-02-12T08:09:00.000-06:002009-02-12T08:09:00.000-06:00Happy Darwin Day!Happy Darwin Day!Zeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04359591881376157621noreply@blogger.com
